So I can't think of any other reason for Jay to be releasing things like 'Private Property', other than he's contractually obligated to put out a certain number of new products per year, and doesn't have the time to worry whether they're any good or not.ДЄnyone who knows me, knows that I hate having to write this kind of garbage about Jay. Beyond Secrets is a book with a lot to offer in the way of making you think about and improve the intangible performance skills needed in magic. Revolutionary Coin Magic is jammed with great stuff. A simple concept, a quick effect, and great reactions. I use it all the time, and, handled correctly, it kills everytime. Yeah, not an original idea, but a well made product with just loads of potential and flexibility. I'm thinking back to when Killer Key came out. This must be what's prompting the flurry of sub-par products. I've been thinking about this since yesterday, and I've come to the conclusion that much like Stephen King did in the mid 90's, Jay must have contracted to put out a ton of new effects and material in a ridiculously short amount of time. I had to win them back with a good ace assembly.Д«est (and hoping Jay stop sniffing glue and get's back to his old self soon), All that I got were uncomfortable and patronizing looks and comments. I say this because 5 minutes after watching the demo, I went to the supply closet here at work, grabbed a couple items, and performed the routine just the way Jay did for a couple of co-workers (it was lunch time) just to see for myself if my initial impressions were on target. I like Jay, but this effect is not only lame, it's not very entertaining. If I can freely select any card from the deck, why are you holding it, why don't you just give me the deck and let me pick a card out? If the jokers are not needed, why are they there? And, may I look at them?ДЈ. Why did you attach a sticky note to the deck and why do I have to use the deck as a writing surface when I jot down my selection?Дў. Some questions that I'd ask if I were watching someone doing this trick:ДЎ. The spectator thinks of a card, and appears to select a random card, but the whole routine is basically a spectator being led by the nose to an obvious conclusion. This effect is a no-brainer with very little performance or production value. Jay, much to my dissapointment, has slipped quite a bit in the last year or so. I'm fried all right, but not in a good way
